Jihan Zencirli has a lot on her plate. She's the magic behind Geronimo Balloons, a company that makes custom hand-made oversized balloons trimmed with fine ribbon, vintage millinery, and hand-cut paper. Her whimsical balloons have been featured in a plethora of catalogs, websites, commercial advertising campaigns, magazines, and parties. In addition to being an entrepreneur, she's also the center of the buzzing Downtown LA arts scene. Her Geronimo Balloons studio in the Arts District is a very much a hub of cool creativity.
In the midst of all this, she managed to find the time to create an installation for The Box at The Standard, Hollywood. The installation, entitled Notes to Self, is made up of lists, comments, and notes jotted on matchbooks, name tags, guest checks, note cards, and various other bits of paper. It's a detailed and layered work, the longer you stare at it the more you see and it's hard to pick a favorite comment.
