DJ 101 for the Gender-Oppressed and Non-Binary Folks

Always wanted to add DJ to your list of skills? Join the femmes of the (F)empower collective for beginner and intermediate sessions to find your sound. RSVP required for attendance. Space is limited to 15 guests per class.

6:30 – 8PM: BEGINNERS WITH PAM JONES

The beginner course is an introduction to the art of DJing. Students will learn basic theory (counting, BPM, bars and tempo) and how to use DJ controllers. The course is open to anyone who has a deep love for music and a desire to learn, no experience required.

8:15 – 9:45PM: INTERMEDIATE WITH LOKA

The intermediate course is for DJs with little to some experience in setting up a musical library, beat matching, and transitions. Perhaps a gig or two under their belt, or lots of practice at home, the intermediate DJ has an understanding of basic club culture, is a music lover themselves, and is eager to learn more. They will be learning on CDJs and a mixer.

Students should bring their laptops and headphones (for both classes). Limited availability, on waitlist.
