There are some ghoulishly cinematic goings-on at The Standard, London this Halloween... Teaming up with our friends Deeper Into Movies, we’re transforming the hotel into a haunted paradise. We're offering a multi-sensory experience with mutant interpretations of classic horror cinema across the building...
To kick things off, we’re showing Carl Theodor Dreyer’s 1932 silent classic Vampyr, accompanied by a live score by DJ Loose Bones.
Next up, critic, author, and Fright fest co-founder Alan Jones will be presenting a lecture on the films of Dario Argento.
In tribute to the Overlook Hotel, we’ll then be screening a unique version of The Shining, playing forwards and backward simultaneously to showcase the film’s eerie symmetry.
To top this off we’ve got a special live performance by psych-folk-pop group Vanishing Twin, who play music improvised music inspired by 70s horror soundtracks described as ‘a dadaist sound collage from the horrorscope’.
All this is supported by DJ sets from Frankie Valentine, Hforspirit x Wavefield, Todestrieb x Lyzz deep into the night.
Dress Code: Classic Horror.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Hotel of Horror.
