An Aromatic Panel Discussion with Bompas & Parr

Presented by Bompas + Parr, join Jonny Woo as they host a free panel discussion in the Library Lounge at The Standard, London on Sunday 16th October from 5-7pm. The event will explore the history of poppers and its place within queer culture. The evening will be hosted by legend Jonny Woo - performer, curator, writer and co-owner of LGBTQ+ performance pub, The Glory - and will feature a powerhouse of poppers panellists including:

  • Jonny Woo (host) - Performer, curator, writer and co-owner of LGBTQ+ performance pub, The Glory

  • John Sizzle (panelist) - Iconic drag queen and co-owner of LGBTQ+ performance pub, The Glory 

  • Stewart Who? (panelist) Stewart wrote the Gold-selling queer techno hit Twisted in 1997

  • Ajamu X (panelist) - A darkroom/fine art photographer and radical sex activist

ABOUT THE PANELISTS 

●      Jonny Woo (Host) - Jonny Woo is a performer, curator, writer and co-owner of LGBTQ+ performance pub, The Glory. He has performed across the world, starting in NYC in 2000 where he began honing his craft in performance art and drag before making work in the clubs and cabaret venues in London from 2003. He was resident at Bistrotheque for 12 years and has performed at Soho Theatre regularly since 2005. His performances have been presented at The Royal Opera House, The Barbican, ICA, The Royal Festival Hall. His musical ‘All Star Brexit Cabaret’ 2016 sold out at The Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 and went on to be presented at The London Coliseum in 2018. He documented East London gentrification in a solo show in 2014 and has channelled Lou Reed in a rock show about the NYC Underground circa ’67. He is currently writing a play, Silvertown, to be presented by Theatre Royal Stratford East and Royal Docks in 2023.

●      Ajamu X (Panelist) - a darkroom/fine art photographer and radical sex activist. His work unapologetically celebrates black queer bodies, the erotic , desire ,difference and pleasure as resistance. His work has been exhibited in Museums, galleries and alternative spaces. He was recently Sainted as the Patron Saint of Darkrooms by the Trans Pennine Travelling Sisters

●      Stewart Who? (Panelist)  - Stewart wrote and performed the Gold-selling queer techno hit Twisted in 1997. It was banned by the BBC, remixed by Danny Tenaglia and was re-released in 2022 with a new mix by GT (Groove Terminator). Stewart worked the door of Trade for 5 years, the legendary '90s afterhours held at Turnmills. He was the editor of QX, London's LGBT party magazine for a decade and has been a DJ for over 30 years. He continues to make dance music and has worked with Ralphi Rosario, Dale Cornish, Per QX and BK. He recently released 'My Instruments' on Italian house label Chabanais with DJ Isac
