We are defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle and are now looking for a Groups & Events Sales Manager to join us in a newly created role who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos!

Your role

As our Groups & Events Sales Manager, you will work in partnership with our Director of Sales, Global Sales Team and our in house Event Team. You will be primarily responsible for pro-actively developing business leads and oversee account management for some of our key groups and events clients.

Strong prospecting and business development skills are a must for this role as while The Standard brand is already very well known in the US market; you will be responsible for growing awareness of our Event Spaces at The Standard, London locally, across the UK and European market. This may include roadshows, sales calls and international travel trade fairs to promote not only The Standard, London but also our wider group. Social & late night events are a big part of what we do here at The Standard, so you will also focus on developing business with clients seeking to host large parties, venue buyouts, fashion shows and launches. We have also recently been granted our wedding licence so you will be targeted to grow and develop this important market.

This is not a ‘Standard’ Sales Manager job so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and be able to handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.

Do you have what it takes to be a Groups & Events Sales Manager at The Standard

Prior experience as a pro-active Event Sales Manager or MICE Sales Manager is essential; you will have however an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests that enable us to not only pre-empt needs but foresee desires.   • A proven track record as a Sales Manager or Sales Executive role with the ability to engage and connect with a wide range of guests from different backgrounds, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ hotel.
  • Candidates should have a background in selling and promoting Social Events, Weddings and Parties
  • In addition to those with experience we are actively seeking candidates with a diverse range of lifestyle skills and welcome applications from those in the arts, music and entertainment industries.
  • Highly social, motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
  • You will also need to be highly organised with great attention to detail, with a natural ability for sales
  • Prior experience using Opera and Tripleseat is advantageous however full training will be given

About Us

The Standard Townhouse on 8 is a new events and meeting destination designed for work and play in mind. Taking inspiration from a 1980s New York Townhouse, it features a living space with mid-century cool sofas, a vinyl library and listening area, two dining spaces, a working kitchen and sweeping wrap around terrace with views of the London skyline. On the ground floor, you'll find Double Standard, our street-facing bar and restaurant home of our legendary burger, Aperol Spritz slushy and our Bottomless Sunday Brunch. (Don't forget to book!) Next door is The Library Lounge, where our carefully curated library pays homage to the building’s original use, and, our Sounds Studio, home of our virtual culture hub, Sometimes Radio. Our 10th-floor restaurant, Decimo is back, where Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias’ showcases his live-fire cooking surrounded by 360-degree views of London - only accessible by our iconic exterior red pill lift.
