Chef de Partie - Decimo

The Standard, London opened in July 2019 and has boldly propelled The Standard brand onto the international stage. Situated on Euston Road across from the gothic grandeur of St Pancras Station, the hotel is set to become a new cultural crossroad for London and a gateway to Europe. The hotel playfully respects the building's history while creating new expansive spaces for the neighbourhood to play from our bars, restaurants, lounges and event spaces throughout the building.

The Standard, London has 266 rooms in 42 unique styles ranging from Cosy Core rooms to terraced suites with outdoor bathtubs overlooking St Pancras station. The lobby lounge, with a carefully curated library pays homage to the building’s original use, with a Sounds studio hosting weekly live music and talks. Double Standard, offers lunch, happy-hour and casual drinking and dining, while his garden restaurant, Isla, features a seasonally-driven, coastal inspired menu. Board the street level, exterior red lift directly to the 10th-floor to Decimo where Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias’ showcases his live fire cooking and the building’s 360-degree views of London.

On the 10th floor, accessed by the exterior red “pill” lift, Michelin-starred Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias merges the Spanish cuisine of his family with his love of Mexico in his debut London restaurant, Decimo. Expect lots of flavour - gambas rojas, mangalitza pork, mezcal cocktails and a new take on tacos with a dramatically different tortilla.

Open only Wednesday nights through to Saturday nights, with a Saturday Live Music brunch too, we are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Chef de Partie.

Your role

As a Chef de Partie in the Decimo kitchen team, you will become part of an exceptionally skilled and dedicated kitchen team. You will of course be passionate about cooking, with great working knowledge of kitchen operations and order of service; along with a deep appreciation of quality food and proven knowledge of production and cooking techniques. You will have an interest, even if not a working experience, of Spanish and/or Mexican cooking. You will have working knowledge of kitchen and food safety, and take responsibility to follow all guidelines set by your senior team.

Your extensive knowledge of the latest food trends and London restaurant scene will help you create an environment where you will not only delight our guest, but also excite and surprise them to create the ultimate culinary experience in London, that is anything but Standard!

While prior experience as a Chef de Partie is always useful, your individuality is your most important asset. With this in mind you will need to be upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a busy high volume, high energy environment and can manage multiple tasks with ease. In addition to this you will also need…

• Prior experience as a Chef de Partie, ideally gained in a similar destination high-end-dining restaurant or perhaps even a well-known quality chain
• Confidence in kitchen operations and the order of service
• To be highly motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
• A relevant culinary qualification to a minimum of level 2 professional cookery and food hygiene certificate is required for this role.
• A flexible approach to working hours with the ability to work late night shifts, including weekends (Note: Decimo is usually closed Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays giving you three days off per week. However, the natural growth of business and/or events can change this in the future
