London - London Group Sales Manager

      The Standard, London opened in July this year and has propelled The Standard brand onto the international stage. Situated on Euston Road across from the gothic grandeur of St Pancras Station, the hotel is set to become a new cultural crossroad for London and a gateway to Europe.The hotel playfully respects the building's history while creating new expansive spaces for the neighbourhood to play from our bars, lounges and restaurants throughout the building.

      The Standard, London has 266 rooms in 42 unique styles ranging from Cosy Core rooms to terraced suites with outdoor bathtubs overlooking St Pancras station. The lobby lounge, with a carefully curated library pays homage to the building’s original use, with a Sounds studio hosting weekly live music and talks. Executive Chef Adam Rawson’s street facing bar, Double Standard, offers lunch, happy-hour and casual drinking and dining, while his garden restaurant, Isla, features a seasonally-driven, coastal inspired menu. Board the street level, exterior red lift directly to the 10th-floor where Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias’ forthcoming restaurant will showcase his live fire cooking and the building’s 360-degree views of London.

      At the heart of our hotels are of course of people who through their vibrancy and energy bring our properties to life. We are now looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join our Sales Team as our Group Sales Manager.

      Your role

      As our Group Sales Manager, you will work in partnership with our Director of Sales, Hotel and Global sales teams to oversee our key Groups market for the hotel. As our first international property outside the USA you will help develop the sales and business development strategy to pro-actively target key Group business across all market segments travelling inbound to London. Strong prospecting and business development skills are a must for this role as while The Standard brand is already very well known in the US market; you will be responsible for growing awareness of our new London property locally and across the wider international groups market.

      Your role will of course involve a large amount of client entertaining to showcase our property; building links with key corporate clients, local non-residential event venues, partners and travel managers. In addition to hosting clients onsite your role will also involve international travel in order to develop key feeder markets; from within the UK and Europe. This may include roadshows, sales calls and international travel trade fairs to promote not only The Standard, London but also our wider group. This is not a ‘Standard’ Sales Manager job so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a high volume, high energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.

      As our key contact for all groups you will be responsible for ensuring all group itineraries are smoothly handed over to our operations teams; remaining on hand throughout their stay and post departure to ensure you follow-up with other Heads of Departments to ensure the delivery is exceptional; and will not only delight our guests, but create the ultimate guest experience in London, that is anything but Standard!

      Do you have what it takes to be our Group Sales Manager at The Standard, London

      Prior experience as a Groups Sales Manager is essential for this role, your individuality however will be your most important asset. While we take every detail of design and guest experience seriously, we do not take ourselves too seriously. ‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; vivid, dynamic and engaging. You’ll intrinsically understand the unique microcosm and the context of our venues, design and city you represent.

      While prior experience in a similar role is always useful all are welcome at the Standard; you will have however that enable us to not only pre-empt needs but foresee desires. In addition to this you will also need….

      • A proven track record as a Group Sales Manager role with an uncompromised and natural flair for pro-active sales and be able to build genuine relationships with clients

      • An exceptional working knowledge of the London Groups Market (Rooms) with prior experience of handling large and complex groups; from developing group leads, contracting accounts, RFP proposals through to account management to increase production through repeat business

      • You will ideally have wider sales experience within the 4- or 5-star London market, however we are particularly keen to meet with candidates who have a background within in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ brand or property

      • Highly motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions

      • Strong Business Development Skills are essential for this role

      • Knowledge of Opera and Delphi are beneficial
