Assistant Bar Manager

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the creation and ongoing success of The Standard’s Bars. Guides team members by demonstrating technical skills, sharing knowledge and upholding all department and hotel standards. Positions the bar to be recognized amongst Asia’s best through market leading beverage and food programming, service levels and atmosphere.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

–         Ongoing control and enhancement of quality standards and guest services

–         Strong working relationship with beverage consultant team

–         Ensuring that all areas maintain a first-class and positive visual impact including ambiance, cleanliness, orderliness and décor

–         Work with the stewarding team to ensure that all equipment needs are met

–         Working to create new ideas and promotions resulting in increased opportunities for food and beverage sales

–         Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for colleagues

–         Promotes awareness of health and safety surrounding the responsible service of alcohol

–         Ensures point of sale system is always updated and maintained with complete accuracy

–         Encourage and train staff to go beyond the norm for patrons through surprising and delighting

–         Train staff on recommending, promoting and upselling beverages

–         Encourages camaraderie, personality and flair in the department

–         Addresses guest problems and complaints  

–         Talks with guests on an informal basis during meals or upon departure to obtain feedback on quality of food and beverage, service levels and overall satisfaction   

–         Ensure all team members are aware of guest satisfaction survey results and follow up action plans

–         Actively participates in the hiring process to identify the right talent to support the outlet's concept in-line with The Hotel’s recruiting guidelines

–         Actively improves employee retention  

–         Monitors and maintains the productivity level of employees

–         Coaches, guides and supports team members to ensure their capabilities and degree of professionalism meet the needs of guests and the hotel

–         Develop and conduct staff training programs for team members in conjunction with learning and development team

–         Ensure compliance with all food and beverage policies and procedures

–         Manages compliance with all applicable beverage and liquor laws

–         Understands beverage control procedure including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar pars, portion control, costs controls, beverage potentials and mix of sales

–         Communicates critical information to employees regarding daily events

–         Ensure all bar equipment is properly cleaned and maintained

–         Continually works to improve guest and employee satisfaction

–         Control purchases and inventory

–         Supports public relations opportunities to promote the hotel
