Standard Bike

SE RACING x DC x THE STANDARD PRESENT:

The PK Ripper Fixed Gear is the third installment of DC’s collaboration with SE Racing. Details are directly inspired from the classic PK Ripper BMX, complete with Floval tubing, Landing Gear fork and a Looptail rear end. This blend of old school BMX and a modern fixed gear not only takes its cues from the PK Ripper BMX construction but also its colorways. The Matte Black PK Ripper Fixed Gear is limited to 1,000 pieces into the USA.

Out of these 1,000 bikes, The Standard, New York has taken 20 pieces to further customize for their guests to use while staying at the hotel. As all of you know, fixed gear bicycles are known to have no brakes, but The Standard’s versions will have a back brake (unless your a seasoned rider, the city streets are not that forgiving, so a brake can definitely help), as well as a reversible back hub and rim which will convert the bike from fixed to freewheel in an instant.

Along with these additions, we’ve made some cosmetic changes too. The entire bicycle is matte black, and as our NYC colorway is black & gold, we’ve added an anodized gold front rim, and a small anodized gold Standard logo badge on the seat tube. This along with an embossed Standard logo in the custom leather seats, gives this special bike the subtle details that make it truly unique. We’re offering a small number for sale, so you have a chance to scoop one up for your very own if you can’t make it to the big city. Happy riding….

KnittaPlease + The Standard
KnittaPlease is knitting graffiti at The Standard, New York! The partnership, is taking place now, during New York Fashion Week and it emphasizes the intersections between textile fashion, art, design, craft, street culture and the DIY movement. Come check out how Magda Sayeg, KnittaPlease founder, has redefined this craft and embedded it into our back yard!

The installation uses knitted cozies, which wrap steel bollards in the public plaza of The Standard, New York. Using a soft material like yarn softens the hard edge of typical graffiti and repositions the typical perception of knitting as public art.
Come check out the colorful installation now! And if you’re not in town, visit our Facebook page for more photos. Check out the KnittaPlease inspired t-shirts we created too!
