The Standard, Hollywood is located in the heart of the infamous Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. From Crescent Hights Boulevard on the east, to Doheny Drive on the west, The Sunset Strip is known for its restaurants, boutiques, nightclubs and also as the epicenter of live music in Los Angeles.  Venues such as The Rainbow Room, The Roxy and Wiskey a Go Go are all within walking distance to the hotel. A few of our favorite local attractions off The Strip that may be of interest to those wanting to explore Los Angeles are listed below. For further information contact the Front Desk.

The Watts Towers or Towers in the Watts district of LA is a collection of 17 interconnected structures, two of which reach heights of over 99 feet. The Towers were built by Italian immigrant construction worker Simon Rodia in his spare time over a period of 33 years, from 1921 to 1954. The work is a superb example of non-traditional vernacular architecture. They were designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1990.

MUSEUM OF JURASSIC TECHNOLOGY

The Museum was established in 1989 and is seen by some to be more of a work of conceptual art than traditional museum. With permanent collections including an exhibit on household myths, trailer park culture and micro-miniature sculptures, this is not a typical museum experience, but we love it.
