DAILY
24/7 Projection featuring Mika Rottenberg
The question of labor and the exploitations of women's bodies lie at the heart of Rottenberg's humorous video installations. In Mary's Cherries, three female wrestlers perform a series of bodily actions in small claustrophobic chambers on successive floors. Two women rapidly pedal exercise bikes to power a UV light that promotes the growth of red fingernails. Each nail is carefully cut and dropped through a hole in the floor where another laborer massages and rubs it, softening it so that when the fingernail is passed to the next laborer it is easily transformed into a sticky maraschino cherry.

In Doug Aitken's Migration, the movements of wild North American migratory animals are transposed upon the ubiquitous space of modern roadside hotels and motels. As the wild birds and animals inhabit these mysteriously vacant and sterile interiors we're taken on a haunting odyssey through the contemporary American landscape...

AUGUST
The Box featuring Mattia Biagi
Mattia Biagi's idea of the TAR collection was born during a visit to the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Entranced by the texture of the mysterious tar bubbling up from the ground, he dipped his shoe into the tar and then saw the juxtoposition of ancient and modern life in a moment of epiphany. Biagi's TAR collection transforms the familiar into the surreal. The darkness that covers these iconic objects immortalizes and connects them to a unique concept of aesthetic beauty.
