Meet Greg Krelenstein, 1/3 of the DJ crew, The Misshapes. Greg acts as a floating satellite all his own, DJ’ing major events at night while booking celebs for cool magazines at his day job. This weekend, we’re psyched to have The Misshapes make a cameo visit on our turntables for Halloween. Here’s a few things you should know about him…

What is your DJ name? Why?
Greg K. My last name is just too long and when I first started going out I met people like Michael T, Justine D, and Carlos D and thought that’s just what you do in NY!

What genre’s of music do you spin?
Lately, its been a lot of pop!

What are your top favorite songs right now?
Robyn, “Dancing On My Own”… Kanye West, “Runaway”… Sky Ferreira, “One”.. Far East Movement, “Like a G6”… Willow Smith, “Whip My Hair”

Who are your favorite new bands?
Salem, Nicki Minaj

What is the stupidest request you have been asked?
David Guetta, though I secretly love him

mid 2000’s

Vinyl and CD

What are you feelings about drinking and working?
Depending on the event, it sometimes is essential.

I always like a Diana Ross or Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson jam thrown in

What is your most memorable DJ experience ever?
DJ’ing in Milan pre-Thanksgiving for a Campari party

What is your most memorable DJ experience at The Standard?
DJ’ing the Givenchy Marina Abramovic after party, that was such a cool crowd

What are you working on right now?
Trying to find a new venue for a weekly party

What has been inspiring you lately?
My friends, always

Who are your heroes, musical or otherwise?
Madonna… cliché… but she’s the trailblazer for every pop girl currently on the scene

Singing along to Annie in the movie theater
