Highlights from Stan's Vodka-and-Sun-Soaked Basel Days

I just got back from 11 vodka-and-sun-soaked days, and I have to tell you, it was INCREDIBLE! I'm not going to bore you with a full rundown of my every moment, but below are a few highlights of my week down South.

Michael Shindler's Tintype Portraits - When Shindler came calling saying he wanted to set up shop at our Annual Basel BBQ to take guest's portraits, there was no way we could say no. Check out all the STUNNING portraits in the gallery.

Aby Rosen's Dinner & Dance Party - I didn't get to make it over myself but my fellow Standard Culture contributor George Wayne was there. He even scooped WWD with a quote from A-Rod. Larry Gagosian on the other hand, had plenty to say.

Having a laugh

@FartBasel - The unsung hero of the week was this anonymous Instagram account called Fart Basel. It had everyone splitting their pants (not like that) with laughter. Well played, @FartBasel. Well played.

Fist Fights - For a nice description of the ever-mounting identity crisis of the fair, I suggest this article in Artforum. If you want to catch up on the punch heard round the beach, Lindsay MaHarry's "The Bloodied Baron" recounts the whole evening.

Paper Dreams - Luis Pons' boat in the bay did more than cause a few waves. It was on everyone's tongue throughout the week and even made it onto Style.com's homepage not just once, but twice!

And that's about it for now. If I saw you down there, it was good to see you. If I didn't, then maybe next year or New Year's Eve at The Top???

xoxo
Stan
