Why simply release a new film when you can have an entire self-centered, multi-day retrospective coincide with the premiere? Probably because uber-prolific James Franco may be the only one to think of doing that. He's calling it FrancoFest. His new film INTERIOR. LEATHER BAR., a re-imagination of lost "x-rated" footage from Cruising, will premiere amongst a swallow of other Franco films including, Spring Breakers, Howl, 127 Hours, and re-edits of Gus van Sant's My Own Private Idaho and My Own Private River.
Cinefamily kicked off a six-night screening last Friday of Je t'aime, Je t'aime, a masterpiece that chronicles the odyssey of Claude, a reluctant hero who volunteers to travel through time. Unfortunately the director, Alain Resnais, a member of the French nouvelle vague (New Wave) and most known for creating complex, intellectual films passed away on Sunday at the age of 91.
